Today on 5th day of July, every leaders of Peoples Party are speaking against this black day of 5th July, 1977 when dictator General Zia ul Haq imposed Martial Law and toppled the PPP Government and arrested the then elected Prime Minister of Pakistan Zulfiqar Ali Bhutto but surprisingly PPP twice led Governments after 1977 avoided to punish Gen. Zia and all those who were involved in overthrowing the Bhutto’s regime.
Communist Party of Pakistan (CPP) Chairman Engineer Jameel Ahmad Malik said that it is a hollow slogan of Peoples Party leadership that ‘Democracy is the best revenge’. In fact the best revenge and justice would be when Gen. Zia and others would also be punished under Article 6 of the Constitution, otherwise, the following words of dictator Zia would prevail in our history as long as he is not punished, which reads as under:-
